Who we are

Saidia Wazee Karagwe (SAWAKA Karagwe)

Saidia Wazee Karagwe (SAWAKA Karagwe) is a local Civil Society Organization legally registered in Tanzania under the Non-Governmental Organization Act, No 24 of 2002 with registration No OONGO/1823. The organization has established its main offices (headquarters) in Kayanga Township of Karagwe district , Kagera Region in the North-western of Tanzania .

After working as a partner with Help Age for over 15 years, in 2008 SAWAKA became the first affiliate from Tanzania to join the Help Age International global network. The organization has vast experience in implementing and managing multi –donors and projects  , and the  Government ministries and district councils  to address the concerns of vulnerable people including older people, children living in difficult circumstances and poor families. SAWAKA works in collaboration with other organizations both local and national. These include membership to the Tanzania Social Protection Forum, Tanzanian Child Rights Forum (TCRF), and Karagwe Network of Non-Governmental organizations (KADENVO). And since 2006 the organization became an affiliate membership with Help AgeInternational.

Since 2017, SAWAKA also works with HORIZONT3000 the oldest and largest Austrian non-government development cooperation organization under TA program to support SAWAKA to strengthen its systems so as to provide better services to the community.

OUR VISION

We envision a community where older people, vulnerable children and other disadvantaged groups of the community are sustainably supported, protected and empowered.

OUR MISSION

is committed to the improvement of the social and health wellbeing of older people, vulnerable children and other categories of the poor people to reduce discrimination and poverty among local communities.

OUR GOALS

• Improvement of social and economic status of older people, vulnerable children and other categories of poor people through health, education and livelihood initiatives.

• Strengthening the institutional capacity of SAWAKA in order to improve performance in serving its intended beneficiaries.
